RONALDO WARY OF SPOILING HIS SON
Cristiano Ronaldo may have it all thesedays - from private heicopters to £10m mansions in Hollywood - but that doesn't mean that he is going to spoil son Ronaldo Junior! Ronaldo is staying close to his roots and might even make his son go to a normal school like he did.
"I want to keep him from being spoilt with luxuries. He will be taught values and religious values," said Ronny.
"Although I was raised in poverty, he’s going to be raised very rich. But I am not posh, so my son is not going to be posh. I don’t want him to go to a posh school. I want him to mix with normal people. But because of my success, I think I’m going to have to send him to private school. I’ll have to choose carefully."
“I was brought up with nothing, we were very poor. I had no toys and no Christmas presents. I shared a room with my brother and two sisters and my parents slept in the other. It was a small space. But I didn’t mind. I’m incredibly close with my brother and sisters and we loved being together. For us it was normal, it was all we knew. Everyone around us lived the same way and we were happy.”
RONALDO STAYING IN MADRID
Whilst it might come as a blow to Manchester United fans who are hoping to get their favourite player back to Old Trafford, it comes as no real surprise, as he has always talked up his love for Madrid, Mourinho and the Spanish lifestyle.
"I am not thinking about leaving Real Madrid. I'm very happy here. I'm great. I could perhaps double what I have in my bank account elsewhere, but for me happiness is the most important thing. If I could say to the president today I'd sign for ten years then I would. Why not sign for life?"
The rumours started when Manchester City were linked to a massive £120 bid for Cristiano, with a whopping £400,000 pay-packet a WEEK! But Ronaldo was adamant that the rumours mean nothing - "I am not going to City. I give you my word. I want to fulfil my contract."
With Ronny set to stay put, he was asked about who he would like to see playing alongside him in the famous white shirt, and he picked out Aguero and Neymar. "Kun (Aguero) and Neymar are two great players and Coentrao may be the best Portuguese player still playing in Portugal.
RONALDO OUT OF RACING CLASH
As Real had already used up all their subs, when Ronaldo left the pitch immediatley after the celebrations, Real were left with just 10 men (but already 7-0 up!).
Ronaldo told the TV cameras "I injured my left leg when I used it for support as I scored my third goal, but I'm sure it's nothing serious and that I'll be able to play the next game. We were clearly winning when it happened, so I decided it was best not to push it."
After the match, coach Jose Mourinho revealed his apprehension that the injury to Ronaldo could be serious, saying "I don't know. It seems like a serious injury, that's the negative note from the game. Especially as Ronaldo doesn't just do small things."
Ronaldo was happy with the performance "We played very well. We earned a great result. We wanted to take three points regardless of how Malaga played. We must continue to win and we know we cannot afford to drop a single point. We have to be in optimum form in order to respond when needed."
IS RONALDO ENGAGED?
Reports are starting to filter through that Cristiano Ronaldo is now engaged to Irina Shayk (sorry girls!)
Apparently, Ronaldo whisked hs Russian supermodel girlfriend off to New York, and popped the question there.
A source close to Ronny said "They had been talking about marriage. Cristiano wanted something very special and romantic, and on Valentine's Day he travelled to New York to surprise Irina. He asked her to marry him."
Ronaldo's mum Dolores, who looks after Ronaldo’s baby while he plays, wants the couple to marry in the footballer's home town of Funchal, on the Portuguese island of Madeira.
The friend added,"At the moment there are lots of options open, but if it were down to Ronaldo's mother the wedding would be in Madeira."
Beats the royal wedding tbh!
RONALDO OPTIMISTIC FOR CL SUCCESS
"It was a tough match in the end but everything went well. We had chances, and now we think about Tuesday, which is a big game.
"We know it will be difficult, but I think that it will be fine. This year we will win, God willing. Last year we were very close, but this time it will be totally different. The coach is very experienced and knows how to win. We will go out there knowing that Lyon are a very difficult team in the Champions League."
"We have to think that they are Barcelona or Milan, because they are a tough opponent and physical. We must have the ambition to win. We want to reach the final at Wembley."
He also chose to distance himself from rumours thta he would rather win personal accolades rather than team-based ones.
"If you win the Champions League you have more chances of winning the Golden Ball. If you say: 'Cristiano, here is the Champions League and the Golden Ball, which do you prefer?'. I'll stick with the Champions League. There are guys here who don't know what it is to win the Champions League. Thank God I won one (with Manchester United) and it's awesome."
Ronaldo is also quietly confident that Real can overcome Barca in the league, though this morning they were back to 5 points behind.
"You have to be in the fight because in football anything can happen," he said. "In the match against Sporting (Gijon), Barca had 70 percent of the possession and scored just one goal, and look how they suffered last night against Athletic (Bilbao).
"This shows that football is very complicated. We can win the league. We know it's difficult, but we were seven points behind, now five and who knows if next week we will be two".
