Robben upbeat on Bayern chances

Arjen Robben says Bayern Munich can still challenge for the Bundesliga and Champions League titles despite the club's recent inconsistent form.

The Bavarian club have not won back-to-back Bundesliga matches since December to slip four points behind leaders Borussia Dortmund, while Jupp Heynckes' side also lost the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie at Basle last week.
Things looked better in the 2-0 win against fourth-placed Schalke at the weekend, a result that saw Heynckes praise his players for their willingness to "do the dirty work", and Holland winger Robben is hopeful they can now start to reel in Dortmund at the summit.
"We were eight points up and now we are four points behind them. That, of course, is not good but hopefully after last Sunday's game we can turn it around and have a great run from now on," said Robben, who scored a brace to help Holland to a 3-2 win over England at Wembley on Wednesday night.
Robben, who revealed earlier this week that he is playing through the pain barrier as he continues to battle a groin injury, also thinks Bayern can turn around their Champions League tie against Basle when the Swiss champions travel to Germany for the return leg on March 13.
Bayern have the added incentive of the final being played at their own Allianz Arena stadium on May 19, and Robben said: "We are very confident
that we can turn it around.
"It's a 1-0 defeat which should've been 0-0, but in the end we conceded a goal that was not good.
"We didn't play a good game there but, at home, with the crowd behind us, I think that we can turn it around, but we have to be on top of our game."
