Interview with Sir Alex Ferguson: Football, Manchester United and Barca
MU coach of 70 years is obviously one of those who have witnessed great changes in world football over a few decades back. More than 37 years of training and many years of top professional football helped Sir Alex look very deeply about the sport king. With 48 large and small titles, Ferguson also knew that to reach the peak we have to make sacrifices and accept payment of the price is not cheap.
During a recent interview with FIFA.com, the greatest coach in the history of Manchester United has put forward the views of the modern game, the achievements at MU, the transferor and the biggest rivals in Europe Europe.
- Reporter: Sir Alex, do you think about the team's performances in this season?
- Ferguson: We are experiencing a season of unstable by the unfortunate injury. The team has many long stay backbone as Nemanja Vidic and Darren Fletcher. Can replace them in 1 or 2 games but very hard to fill that gap in the season. That's why we play less stable. However, I remain very optimistic about the chances of champions Manchester United in the Premier League.
- The squad rotation is not simple?
- Today it is difficult for you to use a few players throughout pillars from day to day. The current match is very fast and usually each player must run 13 or 14 km in a match. So you need to let them rest at some point.
- The rise of strong competitors has made the Premier League this season more stressful?
- It is always stressful. Premier League is always difficult. The difference this season is that instead of the Big 4 with us, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool, it appeared that two big rivals Manchester City and Tottenham. That makes the competition more fierce.
- Being eliminated from the Champions League is really a shock to him and the players?
- It was a terrible disappointment because I felt that if MU through the group stages, we can go to the finals. I think the problem lies in the match at home to Basel. We were 2-0 and missed four or five clear chances. Finally the team to lose focus and get a draw. The ratio of bad that makes us have to earn at least 1 point in the second leg. And even though MU continues to control the match but could not score. When that happens you do not deserve to win.
- Last year MU Barca lost the second time in a Champions League final. If possible, he would change anything in the evening?
- I do not regret what I did in the finals by Barca is the team play better. The first two goals can be avoided and if any extra bit of luck we can win. However, when facing a stronger opponent and play better, you can hardly do much.
- Do you think Barca and Real are superior to the rest?
- I still think Barcelona are the best team in Europe, although Real have narrowed the gap with them. Maybe just a short time will catch up Real's class but the current Barca Barca is the best team. They can beat any competitor. When Messi, Xavi and Iniesta coordinate together with the food, no one prevented them enough.
- His team is still enough competition trophy despite spending less than in the assignment. Is this a deliberate strategy?
- We have decided to build the team based on young players. A few years ago that Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani and Anderson. MU also has many outstanding young factor in incubators as Welbeck and Cleverley. The need to do is create a strong team based on these players. With that strategy, we do not need to spend huge amounts of money to increase competition for the team.
- Do you feel excluded even after the match in Basel, but still competitive MU Champions League?
- As mentioned, I feel we are capable of entering the finals if there are more fortunate. We have ambitions to compete with Barcelona and Real Madrid and Manchester United I do not think they're in a period too far way. I believe that we will soon come back and prove it.
- Sir Alex, he was at United for 25 years. What's keeping him so long and his secret of success is what?
- I have so much to do in this club. I had the opportunity to work with a plan and long-term vision. I get to facilitate planning for several years rather than five match losing coach model will risk instant dismissal. I am responsible for all matters, including scouting network and youth system. I feel very lucky because decisions can be rapidly increasing force.
- Several years ago United had success with local players but the age range of youth now has been expanded. What has changed?
- It comes from the change of law. Many years ago, our incubators can only contract with the chatter talent live near the team headquarters. But regulations have become much easier and we can take on players around the world. We started bringing in foreign players and train them. But it is has gone through a long time since we produce a class player like David Beckham.
- He played a role in the contract with the foreign players?
- Javier Hernandez I will take as an example. First, our scouts contacted to collect the Mexican club Chivas of video and then show me. When I turn on the video up on Chicharito first thought was' he's really very promising. " However, you can not sign a contract just because the tape recording. So I sent my scout master to Mexico in a month just to see Chicharito competition as well as life outside his field. That is how we know him and he had one he played at the World Cup. After some time considering all aspects, we have to make decisions Chicharito recruited.
- Do you think that the faster the game today is inevitable?
- It is inevitable. The car is now faster, faster trains, faster pace of life and sports do not escape that way. Football, too, and that makes it more attractive. But that also means more risk of injury. For example, 30 years ago you would not see a serious knee injury today.
- If you must choose a great moment in a very successful career and his glory, he chose the moment?
- It's win in the Champions League final against Bayern Munich in 1999. It was the first time I have the title with Manchester United, it was and is the first time since 1968. A match emotional and unforgettable.
- Last question, he had changed his mind to retire, so he will continue to work in much longer?
- My philosophy is happy as long as the job and no health problems, about which I will continue. You may not know their own limits and can not know what will happen tomorrow. There will be time for me to stop, of course, but now I have not thought about it.
